United Prairie LLC: A progressive company focused in agriculture.

Slow Start, Strong Finish

Despite a slow start to harvest, most of our trade area enjoyed very good, if somewhat spotty, yields. Though yields overall might have been slightly lower than last year, we have enjoyed strong crops for several years in a row.

We’ve been busy this fall replacing the nutrients those crops have removed from the soil, resulting in the greatest amount (by a large margin) of fall fertilizer United Prairie has ever applied. Fortunately, lower fertilizer prices have helped producers offset lower commodity returns.

Our winter customer meeting is scheduled for Jan. 5, and we are excited to have Dr. Fred Below with us once again. Last year, he talked about high-management soybeans. This year, he will focus on corn. Additional speakers are still being finalized. We will also be discussing in-depth results from our plot network and Innovation Farm. We’re looking forward to a very informative day.

Like you, we’ve already begun planning for spring. We’re continuing to upgrade equipment to add capacity and technology, as precision technology plays a greater role in agriculture each year.

Thanks to all of our customers for a great fall and to our dedicated employees for covering a lot of acres and getting the fall work done. As we head into 2017, we look forward to the opportunity to reward our loyal customers by returning patronage to you for the first time.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
