We Welcome Northern Illinois Alliance

As many of you have no doubt heard, United Prairie has officially acquired Northern Illinois Alliance—a retail agronomy joint venture between Illinois-based Elburn Cooperative and CHS Inc.

Northern Illinois Alliance brings 30,000 tons of dry storage, 15,000 tons of liquid storage and 50 car-rail siding, along with dry fertilizer blending services and 24-hour access for 32 percent and 28 percent nitrogen loading to United Prairie’s current scope of operations.

According to Tim Gocken, general manager for Northern Alliance, the acquisition made sense from both a customer and company perspective. “Both Northern Illinois Alliance and United Prairie have similar approaches to meeting our customers’ needs, and we agree that doing what’s best for them is our first priority,” he said. “Coming together allows us to combine valuable technology and resources so we can continue to help our growers optimize their yields season after season.”

Speaking for all of us at United Prairie, we are excited about bringing our two organizations together and building off of what each has started. We’re convinced that it’s in our farmers’ best interests to grow this business. It allows us to be more efficient with our current resources, and enables us to invest in even more precision ag products and technology because we can utilize those over a larger footprint.

We don’t anticipate any interruption of service to customers during the transition, and look forward to getting to know the growers in the Northern Alliance territory.

We’ll be holding an open house at our new agronomy facility in Emery on March 24, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be served, there will be door prices, and we will make a donation to the FFA chapter of your choice for everyone who attends. We look forward to seeing you there.
